Why we are not using Whatsapp the right way from a security point of view

Today, two out of every three businesses in the country have already been victims of cyber attacks. And in the pandemic period, criminal activity has more than doubled, with attempts at virtual theft and hijacking of data, money and sensitive information.

The second quarter is not even over and attacks have already increased by 240% compared to the first three months of 2020, according to data collected here at ISH. The theme "COVID-19" present in almost all cases, being used as bait.

And many of these attacks come via one of the apps Brazilians trust most and which is on 99% of the country's smartphones: WhatsApp.

At least 23% of significant cyber attacks have come via software. And more often than not, the software of choice for criminals is messaging apps. What arrives through it, people tend to believe is legitimate, as the contacts are usually known.

In addition, during the pandemic, WhatsApp became a source of information. People shared news links, often unaware that what they were sending to friends and family was a gateway to a hacker.

Protection tools for mobile devices are important, however, more important than the tool is the mindset. These are not easy times. That is why being wary of any link that arrives on your mobile phone, however harmless it may seem, is the best form of prevention.

Add to this the fact that WhatsApp will allow you to send supplied to friends and pay bills to get to a really worrying scenario: the suspect will not only lose his data, there goes the money day too!
Attention people, much dying trying as tools are the processes and people! Prepare your processes properly and instruct people continuously.
