Is a Security Operations Center (SOC) essential for business today? - ISH Technology

Is a Security Operations Centre (SOC) essential for business today?

Enterprises need to align security initiatives with business goals. And a Security Operations Center (SOC) provides the foundation needed for the organization to protect data and information by detecting and responding more quickly to threats.

We have created a content series under the theme "The evolution of security in the SOC and why it matters for business". In each episode, we explain why cybersecurity has become fundamental for companies that want to grow and what the role of SOCs is in this context.

In the first video, we explain how the concept of security in SOC was born, a story that started with the US military after strategy failures in the Vietnam War:

You can also read more about it here.

Monitoring used to mean detecting events that were already known to the SOC. The problem was that, many times, the threats we call zero-day, those that were new, different from the catalogued ones, ended up going unnoticed. But the SOC has evolved. If people today no longer have borders, then neither can the SOC. In the second episode, you will learn about the SOC without borders, which has raised the level of protection and changed the game in cybersecurity.

This is what it means to protect in a hyper-connected world.

Security Operations Centre (SOC) technologies form an arsenal of firewalls and solutions that collect and monitor data as it moves across multiple platforms and endpoints.

But who interprets this data?

In the third episode, we explain the structure of the SOC and how the team of professionals work to raise the walls higher and higher to stop intruders:

At ISH, the concept of SOC is different from the classical model. We also did a post on this.

There is no longer any doubt that security breaches will occur and negatively impact businesses. Therefore, the question is no longer whether a company will be hacked, but when it will be. But why should your company be worried about it anyway? The answer is in our fourth and final episode:

And here, you can find a post with more details on why a company should invest in a SOC.

We close our series with a webinar, in which we detail the latest in SOCs on the market to protect businesses in the digital world:
